The symptoms of flu are rather variable and have something in common with the cold. One of the most often symptoms of the flu are changes in temperature. As usual the illness starts with the high temperature and shiver. According to the seriousness of the illness the temperature may differentiate, more often the temperature is high (39-40 centigrade degrees) but if the form of flu is light it may be 37 to 38 centigrade degrees.

Flu characterizes with general intoxication which is seen in such symptoms of flu like: bad even splitting headache, dizziness. Person may feel sleepy or on the contrary he may be very excited and suffer from insomnia. Sometimes he can have real fever. When a person has extremely high temperature he can have hallucinations and delirium. Very often he has ache in the muscles. Person may lose his appetite and feel sick, have constipation, suffer from stomachache. Children can vomit, have cramps and even lose their consciousness.
Some changes in blood system are possible: for example low blood pressure, pulse changes. Because of high temperature the hemorrhages in eye conjunctiva and mucous membranes are possible. The ill person’s nose can bleed as well.
The person may also have such symptoms of flu like sneezing and coughing, his nose may be clogged up and he may have cold in the head. It is difficult for him to swallow and his tongue is coated. But such symptoms of flu are not necessary. Some people can have them at once, some can have on the second or third day of the illness.
Some children of the infant age ill with flu may suffer from bronchitis, have asthmatic syndrome, some changes in the lungs.
The skin of an ill person is damp due to perspiration. Sometimes he may have different kinds of rash, some people may have herpes.
The general continuation of the illness without complications is 3 – 7 to 8 days. After the illness the patient feels rather weak for a long time, suffers from insomnia.
After the flu we can have different complications. Most of all these are complications in the organs of breathing: pneumonia, abscesses in lungs and others. Sometimes they are the complication in nervous system like encephalitis, meningitis, neuritis and others. Person can also have heart problems.
