Flu treatment advice needed. Please give your best advices on how to treat the flu. Everytime I get the flu I get knocked out completely. I wish I had better ways to handle it. I know it's good to drink a lot of water and try to stay in bed. What more can be done?

Re: Flu treatment advice needed. Try drinking honey lemon tea with extra honey or peppermint tea they do help with flu's and colds, and of course get plenty of rest.

Re: Flu treatment advice needed. Are you sure the flu shots don't help? My parents took a shot last year and they didn't get the flu. Of course I can't tell if they didn't get it because of the shot.

Re: Flu treatment advice needed. When having the flu your body aches and you feel blah, best way is to take Tylenol and take a hot bath. This way you can get out of the tub and fall right to sleep. You also want to drink plenty fluids and try to eat something very light. I would eat crackers or toast. If that doesn't work then drink some type of broth.

Re: Flu treatment advice needed. rest, take tylenol or advil, plenty of clear fluids, I dont like water it tastes bad when I have a fever. Ginger ale and Gatorade, Important to rest when you have a fever, as its taxing on your heart. maybe some broth, and saltine crackers, plain rice, and plain toast. Anything with fat in it, will tend to be rejected by the stomach, (just because of the fever) not stomach virus.
I have had the shots and not. Only had the flu once, It knocked me over. could not get out of bed. How awful. Started getting shots after that.
I guess if youre unsure, you should go to the doctor. Would not want to have meningitus, or something else that needs to be treated with antibiotics.

Re: Flu treatment advice needed. Once you get the flu you have got it but it is best to try to keep your immune system healthy, get enough rest, eat well and use herbal clensers now and then as you would for parisites, such herbs as black walnut hull and pumkin seeds along with a diet that includes mushrooms. No one likes to talk about it but parisites can weaken your body and should be checked and taken care of on a regular basis. If you have the flu then stay in bed and rest, drink lots of cold water and juice, I use chicken soup with black peper, bread and crackers. A cold cloth on the forehead and back of the neck helps bring the fever down. I also use aspirin and a pain meds when needed for the aches and pain. Also, anytime a feaver persists see a doctor as your body is telling you somthing is wrong and it may not be the flu.
