Re: Flu treatment advice needed.
Rest, rest, rest.... everyone has their own way of dealing with the flu. When I was young, my mom would make me drink Ginger Ale and slowly eat dry saltine crackers. When my kids were young and I had to break a fever fast, I would give them childrens Tylenol and a popscicle. Believe it or not, a cold popscicle does wonders. I just go by what my symptoms are. If I have a fever I take tylenol. If I have an upset stomach I eat saltine crackers. My husband swears by yogurt. When he gets an upset stomach, he grabs the yogurt. Treat your symptoms, get plenty of rest and don't try to go back to "normal" too soon. I've had many relapses thinking I was better and I wasn't. Fluids, fluids, fluids!

I think the best way to deal with the flu is to drink tea and eat crackers and take plain asprin for the aches and get as much rest as possible. I would also take nyquil at bed time. All of this has helped me a great deal. I hope it helps someone else. Cathy S. input Quote:

Re: Flu treatment
The Best ways to treat a flu is to drink a hot lemon tea or NEOCITRAN, have a nice warm bath, eat a light snack before bed, and get tons of rest, get lots of vitamin C in you.

What I have discovered that seems to work for my family, is of course plenty of fluids and lots of rest. Also at the first signs of any flu symptoms, I start taking echinecia with goldenseal and vitamin C. This needs to be taken several times a day. However, only while symtoms persist. The echinecia and vitamin C boosts the immune system and the goldenseal helps with the phlem. Hot lemon tea with honey will also help with throat irratation. This part sounds really odd but it does work. For the head ache, apply a cold cloth to the back of your neck and soak your feet in hot water at the same time. This draws the fever and pain out of your body. I learned that from my daugther who is a licensed massage therapist. Taking a daily multi vitamin on a consistant basis also helps to boost your immune system so maybe you can avoid the flu all together. Hope this helps you.

This is what I do. First I get stocked up on plenty of water. Then I make sure I have 100 percent juice of my choice. Get real yogurt cultures of your choice. Get jello of your choice. Make sure you get some source of fiber. I choose Quaker Oat squares. I eat them without pouring milk over them. I eat them by the handful. Get stocked up on tissues and whatever the doc tells you to take. I also stock up on Ricola drops, especially if my throat is bugging me. Hot tea is wonderful for making you feel good. My two cents. my advise would be to drink plenty of fluids as well as take nyquil day/night time get plenty of rest And see your family doctor as soon as possible for antibiotics Put vicks vapor rub on your chest and under you nose to help break up the congestion .In the evening take a warm bath or shower and rub in more vicks. stay in doors and let it have time to clear up . you might also want to try using musnix to break up any congestion in the chest.

Lots of liquids & rest, but a really long and hot bath, until you feel drowsy. Tylenol PM, and rub chest & back in with Vicks (it' not just for colds) it helps keep you warm. Go to bed & sleep! In the morning you'll feel alot better.

I used to take flu shots for years, then was sick for 10 months of the year. My Dr. said the flu shots were destroying my immunity. He quit giving me the flu shots, and I have not had the flu in over 15 years since then. I rely on vitimins, herbal remedies and Garlic is the best. I have remained healthy since 1988. Quote:
